영문초록

In order to estimate tide and tidal flows around the Myo Island in Gwangyang Bay, tide and current observations were carried out. Tide shows the mixed form with dominant semi-diurnal tide. Mean high water interval of M2 tide at the north of Myo Isalnd is earlier than that at the south. However high water of spring time and spring range at the north are lower than at the south. Flood currents flow NE~SW from the east of Myo Island, past W through the north and south and run W~SW at the west. Ebb currents flow out E from the inner part of Gwangyang Bay, past E through the north and south and run ESE at the east of Myo Island. Current speed is fastest at the east of Myo Isalnd and slowest at the west. The mean flow during the observational period is fast at the east with the speed of 7~28cm/s and slow at the west with 1~7cm/s. Direction of mean flows at surface is E at the west, the south and the east, but NW at the north. However, the currents at bottom are opposite to the surface flows. Flood flows more strongly than ebb at the north and the east in the entrance of Gwangyang Bay. At the west, ebb currents are more strong than flood currents. Tidal current form show rotating at the west and reversing at the others.
