Blues and jazz: Billie Holiday
Nobody really knows where, when, or by whom the love, pain, work and death of black salves were put into blues music.

But we know that Billie Holiday started singing "blues" on street corners in 1929.

One of her most famous songs is against the haning of black people by whites:
