Mobile Internet Usage
As of November 2006, 82% of Koreans had access to mobile phones. Additionally, According to the new research report by ROA Group the number of mobile users in South Korea will reach 41.95 million by 2010, which is 85% of the total population. ROA Group forecasts that solid growth for WCDMA (3G) is expected in the near future and the number of users is expected to increase to 23.05 million by 2010.
A survey done by Marketing Inside unveiled the results of a survey on 100,752 people in South Korea, which showed that 53.5% of respondents used the mobile internet from time to time. About 14,500, or 14.4%, said they hook up to the Internet with their phones once a month while 20.8% said two or three times. More than 5,800, or 5.8%, said they use wireless web services over 11 times every month. The easy access to mobile internet allows Koreans to capture anything that they see and then upload it online in the shortest time possible.
Ipsos Insight has just released new data from the company's "Face of the Web 2006" survey, and they took a look at the percentage of regular Internet users who visited social networking sites from various countries. South Korea took top honors by a wide margin, with Brazil, China, Mexico, and the US taking the next four spots. In South Korea, a single service (Cyworld) already has 18 million accounts?enough for 30 % of the entire country's population. The survey was done in 30 days. Within that 30 days, more than half of all Internet users in South Korea have accessed a social networking site. This clearly shows Korean involvement in social networking.
