What is one of the unique aspects of the Korean educational system which other nations lack? It is Evening self-study sessions. Self-study sessions are unsupervised learning periods in the evening. They operated in most high schools and some middle schools in the Republic of Korea. Freshmen who had never experienced this had difficulty adapting to it. However, I soon saw them doing their best to study their own work in a relaxed atmosphere just as seniors do.
