as strange that her host father did the cooking in the house and played with the children after supper. She had never seen this in Hong Kong. Perhaps the most unusual thing for her was to watch was her host mother and father kissing the baby again and again in front of people. It made her feel she was really in a new culture.

When Yi-Fen arrived in Canada, she took a taxi to her host parent's house. Immediately she felt something was very wrong. The cars were driving on the other side of the road. She was afraid the taxi would collide with other cars.
She also noticed that most cars had their headlights turned on in the middle of the day. When she saw this the first time, she thought the driver had made a mistake, but then she realized that too many drivers were making the same mistake!
