The Research of Korean Modern Poetry and the Positive Method of Research

The purpose of the present essay lies in seeking a method of study of Korean modern poetry, especially in early 1920s' poetry. Korean modern poetry has a history of more than 100 years. For that time, the method of research has been changed in diverse. Then recent tendency of research method is a kind of interpretation study. So some researchers have a tendency to take no notice of the primary materials or the first materials. Many of them have not been interested in positive materials. But the primary materials is the basic of literature research. It deserves special emphasis. Actually the interpretation study is formed only through positive method of research. As we know, H.G.Gadamer, the author of Truth and Method, said, "Positivism is Interpretation study."
So I presented several materials on the recent research tendency and tried to raise a problem to that my careful consideration from some points of view. That is to say, the first point of view is something like the history of the literature trend, the second is something like the method of comparative literature, the third is something like the method of interpretation study and the forth is the problem on why 1920s' poets accepted just Romanticism or Symbolism. Finally, the necessity of the scientific approach on the essay or the memoirs of those day.
Through this paper, I tried to elucidate and emphasize on the importance of 'new-positivism' or 'interpretational positivism'. I proved the above problems with the texts by Park Young-Hee, Lee Sang-Hwa. By examining their texts positively, I could interpretate the poetic language as rational as possible.
At the end, Much emphasis was given the importance of the primary text in research of modern poetry. And I tried to call some researchers' attention on new-positivism or interpretational positivism.
