3. Summary of the findings
a.Political News
Political News in Naver showed a high percentage of people in their 40’s or over in the overall comments. Also, comments were more written by men than women. To observe the characteristics of comments in political news, we arranged the comments using Naver’s ‘Pure Sympathy Order’ and tried to categorize the findings shown in those comments which received lots of sympathies. Therefore, we categorized comments into three characteristics: Slander or abuse against the opposition, Spreading unverified information and criticism of the state and the country.
1) Abuse against the opposition
Abusing against the opposition in political news comments is most common and can be mainly divided into three parts, based on their region or generation or the supporting party. In other words, some people showed hostility against out-groups, based on the grouping that is related to the article.
