The Meaning of the Right Stuff
In Tom Wolfe’s novel “The Right Stuff” he discusses the beginning of the United States’ space program. Wolfe describes a group of men in the armed forces and how each one committed their lives every day to the mission at hand. For most of these young men being a test pilot was the most distinguishing job in the military’s aviation field. It was also the most dangerous peace time mission the military offered, which counted it‘s deaths by the week. Yet it was the dream of every young ambitious pilot.
