본문내용

In 1865, the president Abraham Lincoln said “the government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Like he said, the government exists for the people who are in that country. However, these days, the government seems to be confused about what they should consider first. In December of 2008, the American Big Three auto companies, GM, Chrysler, and Ford, asked the government to help them with their money crisis. Then government gave them money, taxpayer’s money, despite a lot of complaints. People have discussed whether or not the government’s decision was right.
If the government had not helped auto companies, what would have happened? Experts said there could be millions of layoffs and taxpayers would be charged more than $100 billion, so bail out was the only solution that the “now” economy could afford (Oneal, 2008, ¶7). Especially, the people who are working at those companies and their families were all afraid of the situation. However, even though there will be some negative effects, the government should not use taxpayer’s money to bail out private industries.
First of all, the government’s decision to bail out private industries with taxpayer’s money was an unfair dealing to the other companies. The government shouldn’t help only big companies like Big Three auto companies because they’re big. The government gave us a lot of reasons why they need to help those companies such as unemployment, the declining economic, and the worth and size of those companies. However, actually no reason could make people understand reasonably.
