People use the ways to make new words because they are useful and applicable. First of all, we can use our languages abundantly because we can diversify vocabularies from limited morphemes. In the second place, it is very efficient and economical because those new words are abbreviations.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages, too. First, it is impossible to communicate if people don't know what the words mean. It can be seems like random letters to who doesn't understand that origins. Second, some words are tautological and ambiguous because the spelling of the new words are exactly same.
In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages of these ways to get new words, but they contribute for development of vocabulary on productivity side in linguistics.
