Korean Food Culture

Korea is a peninsula country on the northeast side of the Eurasian continent, stretching from 33 to 43 degrees north and 124 to 132 degrees longitude. To the north, it is connected by an overland route to the Chinese continent, facing the Japanese Islands to the south, and facing the Chinese continent through the Yellow Sea to the west. This geographical location influenced the advanced culture of the continent, and also served as a bridge to convey the culture of the continent to Japan, and allowed inflow of marine culture or trade exchange through the sea of three sides. Accordingly, the method of farming in the continent, food in the north, food in the south, and food in the south also greatly influenced the diet.
The average temperature is between 10 and 14°C except in some areas where the four seasons are distinct and very cold. In summer, the temperature is high and humid, with the highest daily temperature above 30°C, affected by the subtropical high pressure of the North Pacific. Due to the high precipitation, 40 to 60 percent of the annual precipitation is concentrated during this period, making it a suitable climate for rice farming. In winter, the climate is cold and dry due to continental high pressure from Siberia.
