Korean Food Culture

Traditional food, along with the dietary customs, is a generalization of the national wisdom that our ancestors have developed in order to adapt to the geographical and historical environment. Therefore, Korean food is a palatable and reasonable food for us living on this land. It is a Korean food that has been developed with our traditional culture by creating food that best suits our living conditions. The traditional dietary patterns of a people are shaped and developed by the natural and social environment they face. Korea has a temperate climate at 33~43° north latitude and 124~13°longitude. The climate characteristics of the Korean Peninsula, which is clearly divided during the four seasons, and the geographical conditions surrounding the three sides of the peninsula surrounded by the sea in summer, and more than 70 percent of the country are reflected in our diet. More specifically, for example, the hot and humid summer climate enabled rice farming in the midst of crop production, which led to rice consumption as a staple. As rice was used as a main food, various grains and vegetables were grown in the field and various kinds of fish and algae were collected and eaten on a rolling beach. Korea's climate and geographical characteristics were designed to make it a distinct characteristic from Korean food's biggest characteristics, stocks and corrosion.
