본문내용
Dizygotic twins (double-ovum, fraternal)
Two individuals born together derived from two separate eggs fertilized by two separate sperm
Monozygotic twins (single-ovum, identical)
Two individuals born together derived from one sperm and one egg
Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome
Incidence : 1/4 of the monozygotic twins
Anastomotic connection / Blood transfusion from the donor twin to the recipient twin
Donor twin (pale apperance) anemia & growth restriction
Recipient twin (plethoric appearance) – polycythemia & hydrops (representing the circulation overload)
Pathophysiology
①imbalance of the hemodynamic shunting
②velamentous insertion (resulting in cord compression)
