본문내용

부정문에서는 조동사로 쓰이고, 긍정문에서는 본동사로 쓰임.
ex) Tom needs to come here. [본동사]
Tom need not come here. [조동사]
Need Tom come here? [조동사]
He dares to say such a thing.
He dare not say such a thing.
Dare he say such a thing? (그가 감히 그런 것을 말하겠습니까?)
　 영국식 영어에서는 need, dare를 조동사로 보지만 미국식 영어에서는
need, dare를 조동사로 보지 않고 본동사로 본다.
ex 1) Need he do so? (영식, need=조동사)
= Does he need to do so? (미식, need=본동사)
2) He need not do so. (영식, need=조동사)
= He doesn't need to do so. (미식, need=본동사)
3) He needs to do so.
이 문장은 긍정문이므로 영식, 미식 모두 본동사로 본다.
4) Dare he do so? (영식, dare=조동사)
= Does he dare to do so. (미식, dare=본동사)
5) He dare not do so. (영식, dare=조동사)
= He doesn't dare to do so. (미식, dare=본동사)
6) He dares to do so.
이 문장은 긍정문이므로 영식, 미식 모두 본동사로 본다.
(10) used to의 용법
① 과거의 규칙적인 습관 : 「∼하곤 하였다」
ex) He used to take a walk every morning.
　 used to + 동사원형에 대한 부정문 의문문
ex 1) He used to take a walk in the park.
= He was in the habit of taking a walk in the park.
부정문 He used not to take a walk in the park. (영국식)
He didn't use to take a walk in the park. (미국식)
의문문 Used he to take a walk in the park? (영국식)
Did he use to take a walk in the park? (미국식)
② 과거의 계속적 상태 사실 : 「한때 ∼했었다」, 「이전에 ∼이 있었다」
ex 1) He used to live in Seoul.
= Once he lived in Seoul, but he doesn't live in Seoul now.
2) She will get used to cooking the Korean food. [동작]
3) She is used to the Korean customs. [상태]
4) There used to be a hotel there. (과거의 사실)
　 used to + 동사원형 (과거의 규칙적인 습관, 계속적 상태)
get used to + (동)명사 : ∼에 익숙해지다.
be used to + (동)명사 : ∼에 익숙해지다.
