A Study of Korean Leadership Conception

This study investigated the lay concept of leadership in Korea. For this purpose, leadership language was collected from 136 undergraduate students and 70 managers of various organization. Evaluation committee categorized the languages by similarities. 5-point scale questionnaire was made and measured 224 managers from 14 organization.
Findings of this study can be summarized as follows.
1) The most favorite leader to the Korean is that "a leader collect an opinion of a member of affiliated body, solve their conflicts and a leader who will act to make a good integration of organization."

2) In case of the conditions of leader will be considered as a character, action, ability, among these, ability will be considered the most important condition of them.
3) As the character of leader to be prepared, a sense of responsibility and driving force are the most important things of all.
4) Koreans divided into leader, Jidoja, Jiwhija, Tonsolja, manager and as to a leader concerned, they are people oriented, the whole authority, the concept of a high rank, human influence, the concept of lateral, focusing to a member, guidance of all directions and as to the others are organization oriented, partial authority, the concept of a low rank, direct influence, vertical concept, self-centered.
5) Judging from level, Tongsolja is an influential user of military organization, Jiwhija is a music organization, manager is a company organization, coach is a sports organization and leader is a user of general influence.
Implication and directions for future research are discussed.
