Section I
The English language, like all languages, has evolved over time.
모든 언어처럼 영어도 계속해서 진화하고 있다.
Old English (OE) developed from the Germanic branch of Indo-European languages and was characterized by limited vocabulary with word endings that identified the gender, number and Case of words.
고대영어는 인도유러피안 언어의 독일어의 한 부분으로부터 진보했고 성과 숫자 그리고 격으로 간주되어지는 단어의 어미의 한계로부터 특질지어진다.
Middle English (ME) was distinguished by an influx of French words into the language, and the shift to more simplified word forms.
중세영어는 프랑스 언어의 유입으로 더 간소화된 형태로 구별된다.
Modern English featured a move toward standardization of the language by formalizing both usage and spelling.
현대영어는 용법이나 철자법의 형태면에서 규격화된 형태로 변화했다.
Some 17th and 18th century writers held a rather low opinion of English.
