1: WHAT MAKES GOTHIC BUILDING?
A real Gothic Building has three important features. The first one is ribbed vault which is made out of stone; it is a fire proof. A real Gothic building must have stone floor, stone wall, and stone vault. The second one is a lancet window which is a pointed arch shape and let mysterious light inside. The third one is flying buttress. Because in the stone wall glazed-glasses are filled in, flying buttresses are needed. A real “good” Gothic building tells us on the outside what it supposes to look like inside of building like a Notre-Dame de Chartres.






2: HISTORY
St. Anne we saw is not a real Gothic building. It is a Gothic revival which is a 19th century’s. St. Anne is made out of plaster and rath instead of a real vaulting and stone; it is also supported by cast-iron. A cast-iron is a wonder media and new technology of 19th century’s that supports industrial revolution.
