This semester the course of the subject was changed from the regular studies of Int`l Business Environment to the existing Asian Crisis. The session started with a brief outline of the topics that would be covered in the coming sessions of the semester which are to be mainly related to the existing financial crisis in Asia, especially in Korea. The students would be required to prepare a presentation in group of two or three on the economic crisis in the following countries:

1. Mexico `94
2. Thailand
3. Indonesia
4. Malaysia
5. Philippines
6. Hong Kong
7. Taiwan
8. China
9. Japan


Contents of the Lecture:

Dec.1997 Korea approached for IMF bailout. From Oct. 1997 there has been a withdrawal of 1 billion US $ from Korean foreign exchange reserves. IMF suggests minimum of 30 billion US $ reserves. Currency crisis in Korea occurred in one month when this reserve was almost used.
