CHAPTER 10
REQUIREMENTS
I strongly recommend that all three analysis and design projects be assigned to the class. The only way that students can learn how to perform analysis and design is from hands-on prac¬tice. The three problems are all straightforward, yet require some thought if a good solution is to be obtained.
PROBLEM SOLUTIONS
10.1: No, a software product may be built to computerize only part of the operations of an organization.
10.2: The software product must run under Linux.
10.3: On average, queries of Type 4 must be answered within 3 seconds.
10.4: A use-case diagram depicts a set of use cases.
10.5: A user is the person or persons on whose behalf the client has commissioned the product and who will utilize the software. An actor plays a role with regard to the software product. A user is an actor, but so is an initiator of a use case or someone who plays a critical part in a use case, irrespective of whether that person is also a user of the software product.
10.6: See Figure 10.1.
