Gunman Kills 5 in Mall in Finland

→ A lone gunman armed with a high-powered rifle entered the Port Arthur historic site in Tasmania and began firing randomly, shooting tourists and setting fire to buildings. By the end of the day, Martin Bryant had killed 35 people. Bryant was eventually jailed for life. The Port Arthur massacre led to tougher gun control laws.
