There are many questions we ask ourselves as we lead our lives. It could be anything, from everyday questions such as “How do I look today?” “Should I skip class tonight?” to something more philosophical and requiring a deeper understanding in life such as “What have I achieved in my life?” “What is the purpose of my life?” The principal question and focus in approaches to virtue ethics would be “What kind of person should I thrive to be?” Virtue theory or axiology focuses on people and their character. To build a good character, three factors are needed: good rules, good people, and good will. Then how would an act of abortion be viewed in the axiological theory? A virtue theory approach on abortion does not focus on your intentions or reasons that lies behind why you have chosen abortion. Nor does it on the consequences that follow it. It puts value in the fetus developing in the mother’s womb, and the pregnant mother who protects the developing baby. Then arises a question. An axiological view focuses on the moral value of a human being. If the axiological view respects the value of a fetus, would it mean they view fetus as a human being? The issue of abortion is most controversial in defining the fetus. Some of the criteria of personhood prominent in the society are conceived-by-humans
