Introduction
Okies were migrants from south central states who moved to California during the 1930’s in search of jobs, mostly in farms. Californians despised these migrants since they attribute the lowering of wages to them and because they resemble hobos as a result of their lack of income and constant wandering (Heavilin 49). The conflict between Californians and Okies were manifested through discrimination and marginalization against Okies. Okies had to endure severe political and social discriminations while they tried to earn whatever living they can in the Golden State.
