The Effect of Family attitude on the Adjustment of Patient Who has irreversible Disease*

This study was done to determine the relationship between the family attitude and patient adjustment.
The subject for this study was patients who have irreversible disease by doctor`s diagnosis as a result of various examination for hospitalizing 7 or 10 days and the family selected from 2 medical ward of general hospitals in Taegu.
Data was collected from sep.10, and oct. 7, 1985 using the questionaire method, and analyzed by the means, standard deviations, intercorrelations, F-ratio, and t-test.
The results obtained from this study were as follows:
There was no significant difference in the relationship between patient general charateristics and patient adjustment except age, experience of hospitalization.
There was no significant difference in the relationship between family general characteristicss and patient adjustment.
There was no significant difference in the relationship between family general characteristics and family attitude.
From the patient view, active family group was significantly higher than the passive group in the patient adjustment score. Patient adjustment score differed significantly by family attitude between active family group and passive family group in physical and psychological aspects, but not differed in environmental aspects.
The intercorrelation from the patient view was higher than the intercorrelation by the family view in family attitude and patient adjustment.
