　The office is located near the edge of the shopping mall.
(4) round, around : '주위에'라는 뜻일 때는 around와 round를 모두 쓰나 '∼을 돌아서'라는 움직임을 뜻할 때는 round만 쓴다.
ex) They were standing around the table.
　　They were dancing round and round the room (빙빙 돌다)
(5) about : '주위 여기저기에'의 뜻이다.
ex) They wandered about the streets.
(6) behind, in front of : '뒤에, 앞에'의 뜻으로 가까이 있는 것을 말한다.
ex) She was standing behind the car.
　　She was sitting in front of the house.
(7) beyond : 장소(∼의 저쪽에, 저 건너), 시각, 시기(∼을 지나), 정도, 범위, 한계(∼을 넘어서)의 의미를 갖는다. 주로 부정문, 의문문에서 '∼을 제외하고, ∼이외에'의 뜻으로 쓰인다.
ex) We were talking beyond the time limit.
　　(제한 시간 이상으로 이야기하고 있다.)
　　She wears nothing beyond the cloths
(8) on, beneath : on은 어떤 면 위에 접한 것을 말하고, 아래에 접한 것은 beneath이다.
ex) She put the cup on the floor.
　　She was feeling the pen beneath his feet.
(9) over : 면에 닿지 않는 위(higher than, directly his feet)
ex) We jumped over the truck.
(10) above : higher than, over의 뜻이다.
ex) She hung the picture above the table.(좀 떨어진 위)
(11) under : in/to a lower place than, directly below의 듯이다.
ex) The book is under the table.
(12) below : in a lower place th an, on a lower level than의 뜻으로 쓰인다.
ex) Don't come in below this line.
※ 주의 : '움직임'에는 over, under를 , '해발'에는 above를, 그리고 영하를 말할 때는 below를 쓴다.
ex) The city is situated at an altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level.
　　He is working in temperature of 20℃ below. (또는 under 20℃)
4) 원인, 이유 : because of, on account of, owing to, for : '∼때문에'를 쓴다.
ex) She was late owing to rain.
　　She was rewarded for her bravery.(그녀는 용감한 것에 대해서 상을 받았다.)
※ 주의 : due to는 주격 보어에 쓰일 수 있다.
ex) Her success was mainly due to hard work.
　　Due to the heavy traffic, he came late for work.
5) 가격 표시 : at은 단가를, for는 전체 가격에 쓰인다.
ex) He bought the notebooks at $5 each(각각 5달러씩)
　　He bought the notebooks for $5 (공책들을 5달러에)
　　He worked at the expense/cost of his health(희생하여)
6) 목적 표시
(1) for : '∼을 목적으로, ∼을 위하여'라는 뜻이다.
ex) We went there for money.
(2) to : to 다음에는 돕는 행위가 온다.
ex) They came here to his aid.(그들은 그를 돕기 위해서 여기에 왔다.)
7) 수단, 도구, 방법
(1) by : by 다음에는 행위(주로 동명사)가 온다.
ex) You can contact me by using the phone.
(2) with : with에는 도구 명사가 온다.
ex) She always writes the report with this pen.
(3) in : 언어, 재료 등이 쓰인다.
ex) He speaks well in English.
