토드 윌리암스와 빌리치엔은 미국내에서 성공한 부부건축가 그룹 중 하나다.
이들은 건축가로서 미국식의 큰 꿈과 큰 건축과는 반대되는 행적을 쌓아 올렸다고 평가받고 있다.
이유는 이들이 매우 소박한 모습을 유지하면서 절대 실재 있는 것 그 이상으로 부풀려서 사람들을 현혹시키는 성향과는 거리가 매우 멀기 때문이다. 이들의 건축은 하이테크 건축을 표방하며 위로 향하기 보다는 건축물 자체의 무게를 인정하여 그 자체의 아름다움을 추구하는 경향을 띤다. 윌리엄은 ‘우리는 가벼운 건축이란 있을 수 없다고 본다’라고 말하면서 건축이란 빛으로 채워질 수는 있지만 항상 무게가 있는 존재라고 믿는다 라고도 이야기한다. 이러한 이들의 성향은 다수의 건축상을 휩쓴 포크 뮤지엄에서도 잘 나타난다.

1992 he was made a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects.
1995 he held The Ruth Carter Stevenson Chair at The University of Texas in Austin.
2002 he held the Eliel Saarinen Chair at the University of Michigan.
2004 he held the Thomas Jefferson Chair at the University of Virginia.
2007 he was made a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
2009 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Billie Tsien

1977- She has worked with Tod Williams.
1986 She formed the partnership of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects.
 
She has taught extensively in architectural programs throughout the United States including the Parsons School of Design, Harvard University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.
She maintains an interest in work that bridges the realms of art and architecture.
She serves on the advisory council for the Yale School of Architecture, and is a Director of the Public Art Fund, the Architectural League of New York, and the American Academy is Rome.
