APDH에 대한 선행된 연구인 \"Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and its physiological relevance\"(Jung et al., 2015)에서는 GAPDH가 단순히 대사 효소가 아니라, 다양한 생리학적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 보여주고 있다. RNA의 지속적인 합성과 감소를 제어하는 것으로 발견되었으며, 또한 세포 분열, 미토콘드리아 기능, 염증 반응 등의 생리학적 과정에서도 중요한 역할을 한다고 밝혔다. 이처럼 GAPDH는 안정적으로 널리 분포하고 있다.
