On February 27, I went to San Francisco to attend a book talk with Wendy Rouse Jorae, who wrote The children of Chinatown. This was my first time I have attended a book talk. I found this book talk while searching for the immigration history of Asian Americans in humanities class. I have been interested in Asian American history since I read John Okada’s No-No Boy which covers the conflict of identity as Japanese Americans during World War II. I was excited because this book talk perfectly matched with my interest, Asian American History. This is the reason I decided to go to this book talk.
The book talk was held at 2:30 in a small conference room of the public library located in Chinatown. I arrived at 2:00 and looked around the reading room of library. The library was small, but there were a lot of Asian people reading books. Looking at many people in library, I expected many people in the book talk also. The manager of library kept encouraging people to participate in the book talk by announcing.
