According to the theory of exchange behaviorism of Homans stating "behavior = value × probability", the author interpreted as follows. When the social workers are not recognized as an expert in their organization, or when they are not appropriately compensated for their professional work, the double structure of commitment could take place as shown in this study. Also, when considering the future rewards and the characteristics of the Catholic Social Welfare Organizations, it is possible that the social workers could feel the loss of future promotions. And the loss of future promotions could also become the factor, which would bring about the double structure of commitment.
Sixth, although the catholic social workers' awareness on the social doctrine was recognized as the factor, which affects positively on every kind of commitment, only the level of organizational commitment was affected significantly by it when investigated under the significance level of 0.05. For the catholic social workers, it has been proven that more the workers are aware of social doctrine, more they commit to their own organizations. The author thereby verified the awareness of social doctrine is significantly valuable in contributing such essential influences on the catholic social worker's commitment level.
With the results of this research, the author proposes the following.
First, since the degree of the awareness of social doctrine is the important factor which influences positively on the social workers' level of commitment, the Catholic Social Welfare Organizations should provide active educational programs on the social doctrine to help the social workers to be the expert.
Second, although the social doctrine provides a guide for ethical judgment in catholic social welfare activities, it has been partially applied and practiced by catholic social works because social doctrine has only been discussed in the department of theology. Therefore, throughout this specific study performed according to the social scientific method, the author has concluded that continuous succeeding studies should be provided. We should produce practical behavior guides and standards for ethical judgment, and based on them we should make an effort to thoroughly practice the social doctrine in the actual field of social works and not leaving it only as a theoretical guide.
Third, the Catholic Social Welfare Organizations should perform the succeeding studies concentrating on considering fair treatment for social workers, so that the workers can be provided with an appropriate environment where they can work with pride and passion. They should not only provide reasonable compensation for social workers corresponding to their professionalism, but also they should open up future promotional opportunities in order to motivate the social workers to remain in the field of social work.
