PARAPROFESSIONALS은 교사과 치료사들이, 특수아동들의 정신적, 신체적, 정서적인 성장을 돕는다. 1대 1의 교수로 아동에게 적절한 도움을 제공한다.
이 프로그램은 신체적이나 정서적인 장애 때문에 개별적인 교육이 필요한 특수아동에게 정상아동의 이해력 발달 수준 정도의 기초능력을 키워준다.

What Do SPECIAL NEEDS PARAPROFESSIONALS Do?
Paraprofessionals work with teachers and therapists to stimulate the mental, physical, and emotional growth of specialneeds children. Often, they work one-on-one with a child to provide the extra help they may need to succeed.
What Characteristics Do I Need To Work In This Field?
Patience and a positive outlook are key attributes of successful Paraprofessionals. So are good observation and
communication skills, physical stamina (you may be required to help children with feeding, toileting, and mobility),
and sensitivity.
The Child Care-Special Needs Paraprofessional Certificate Program provides
an educational foundation for understanding normal human development and
the special needs of individuals who have mental, physical and/or emotional
disabilities. The program emphasizes helping students develop the sensitivity
and skills to identify and promote the potential of each individual regardless of
the handicap.
All courses are not offered each semester. Students should work with
the Counseling Department to set up a schedule that will work for them.
Students who satisfactorily complete the Program Courses qualify for a certificate
of program completion.
