e predict that the 21st century brings many changes. Among them, "vision" is the one. People call the youngs "the generation of vision-MTV Generation" and Video and Information-Technology industry lead the 21st century. Furthermore, all information sources will be visual medium. "The generation of vision-MTV Generation" are more familiar with visual materials than printed materials. They raised with television and use visual medium in order to express their thoughts and feeling.
Video Journalists communicate with people with video. With heart of loving people's lives objectively, they portrays historical background and inscribe social issues.
Since video camera become smaller and lighter, anyone who is interested in can use it. But not everyone who can use a camera can be a video journalist. Without ones's critical point of view toward a society and historical background, they can not create a influential film.
Video journalists are more powerful communicatees than others not only because they capture facts but because they use audio and video together. In another word, video journalism increases ability of delivering facts in the press because people see and hear real/factual things.
Since Video Journalism use audio and video together, people as audience receive ideas clearer and powerful than from other printed medium. Therefore video journalists are dutiful to deliver facts. But not only they just deliver facts but they also have to deliver them under their journalistic point of view. Otherwise, people as audience are confused.
Video journalists have to report facts with their reasonable logic. Therefore, if they just deliver facts then audience are unable to judge facts rationally and logically. And if video journalists intentionally or unintentionally portray facts subjectively, then audiences are skewed in one direction, furthermore, democracy based on rational debates will not be existed.
Nowadays, video journalists brings up unique and distinguishable contents refreshing broadcasting and movie industry. Therefore, a video journalists are not simple contents providers but they are new deliverers of news.
Today broadcasting journalism has serious problems such as lack of journalistic point of view in current affair, intentionally produced facts and criticism without answer. By doing so, each individual privacy is attacked and key concepts of public broadcasting: for public goods and fairness is lost. But video journalism can overcome these problems and leads the 21st century journalism to new era.
Therefore, this study will argue that the first, video journalism should report news based on facts because visual images are more powerful than printed journalism and the second, college education is required in order to correct superficial reports occurring in independent documentary producing system. But since video journalism is a contemporary phenomenon, this study has to be backed up with new changes of video production system later.
