- 정의: Spatially & Temporally Reproducible
: Species-specific loss of large numbers of individual cells during development
- cell loss가 (genetically predetermined/ inherited from precursor cells/ inevitable) 이라는 것을 의미하는 것은 아님.
- Not predetermined
- Critically dependent on epigenetic signals arising from cellular interactions
- injury-induced, pathological, diesease-related forms of cell death는 제외
- ‘apoptosis’와 동의어가 아님.
cf) apoptosis: only one specific, albeit common, mode of cell death
PCD는 모든 developing neuron에서 일어난다.
