In the short story, “A Rose for Emily”, the way the author portrayed Emily is quite interesting. He described Emily through other characters’ words and her behaviors, instead of describing through narration. Since people have different points of view, there could be various analyses of this story; an example could be focusing on Emily’s obsession. In this short story, she shows an obsession for two things; one is for two people in her life whom she loved, and another is for her status in the town. The author illustrated how a woman deals with her sorrow and loneliness through obsession.
