ABSTRACT
A Study on the Health Perception and
Health Promoting Lifestyle of Preservice Early Childhood Teacher
This study was designed to identify the relationship between health perception and health promoting lifestyle of preservice early childhood teacher. The subjects were 208 early childhood education majors at a school. The collected data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Pearson's correlation coefficient was used by SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1)The mean scores of the variables were as follows: health perception status was 2.70±0.78, health promoting lifestyle was 2.50±0.76. The highest subfactor of health promoting lifestyle was interpersonal support(3.10±0.70) and the lowest one of responsibility(1.94±0.80). 2)Among the general characteristic variables, satisfaction of school life(F=26.584, p<.001) and aptitude of department(F=17.600, p<.001) showed strong connections to health perception. 3)Among the general characteristic variables, satisfaction of school life(F=27.968, p<.001) and aptitude of department(F=6.299, p<.001) showed strong connections to health promoting lifestyle. 4)Health perception was correlated with health promoting lifestyle(r=.391, p<.01), self actualization(r=.416, p<.01), nutrition & exercise(r=.230, p<.01), health responsibility(r=.181, p<.05.), interpersonal support(r=.161, p<.05), and stress management(r=.233, p<.01).
