is likely to count on authoritarian simple control in dealing with labour relations. In these environments, organization capacity of union at the work place level is high, and a union's activities correspond to militant unionism which tends for solidarity with unions of other companies.
This essay intends to substantiate the assumptions above by means of an analytical framework combining technology, internal labour market, and organization structure. The major aim is to make comparative analysis of how management and union in heavy industry companies interact with each other, given different technological and institutional conditions, to give birth to distinct rule systems of interaction. This essay especially emphasizes a close connections among technological base of production, internal labour market, and strategic interactions between the management and the union. The causal relations among independant and dependant variables may be presented by the following table.

The Important findings are summarized as follows. When the production technology is more of continuous flow, when it relies on a higher degree of automation, and when the introdution of automation is more rapid, the management tends to seize greater dominance on technology. Given structural conditions of enterprise level of industrial relations and strategic interactions between the management and the union, a management-led cooperative ties are likely to result when production technology is continuous in character, labour processes are in the course of a shift toward monitoring and control works, and internal labour market is well developed. On the contrary, under a unit and large batch production-based or mass production-based environment, collective solidarity and organizational capacity among workers are strengthened. When internal labour market is not well develped, and workers show strong organization capacity at working places, militant unionism is a certainty. The four analytical tools - production technology, labour processes, and internal labour market, stragegic interaction process of actors - are decisive factors in determining patterns of enterprise level industrial relations.
