에서 비효과적 행동패턴을 버리고 새로운 대안행동을 학습하므로 소기의 목표를 달성했을 때, 그 집단은 종결단계에 접어든다.
종결단계를 생산적으로 이끌기 위하여 지도자와 집단은 ① 집단경험의 개관과 요약, ② 집단원의 성장 및 변화에 대한 사정,③ 이별감정 및 미진 상하의 취급, ④ 피이드백 주고받기, ⑤ 최종 마무리와 작별 인사의 과정을 거치는 것이 바람직하다.
