은 신이성에 의해 건국신화가 되는 것이 아니라 중개자들의 계보화와 그 효과에 의해 건국신화가 되는 것이다.
계보화를 통해 중개자 기능이 확장되면서 「고려세계」를 지탱하는 세계해석의 방식이기도 하고 새로운 서사구성의 원리이기도 한 풍수지리설과 이를 방조하는 점몽술·점복술·관상술이 도입되어 고려의 건국서사는 이전과는 다른 방식으로 구성된다. 그런데 이런 원리 안에 흐르고 있는 해석학적 사유들은 천명에서 지명으로 서사구성주체들의 시선이 이동한, 다시 말해 천명이 지명과 지명에 대한 해석 내부로 간접화된 결과였다. 이 새로운 서사구성력의 운동 속으로 용손 화소를 필두로 한 전대의 다양한 질료, 즉 서사유형들이 이끌려 들어온 것이다. 그리고 이런 해석학적 사유들은 「고려세계」의 구성을 둘러싼 논란을 통해 엿볼 수 있었듯이 신화적 언어를 의심하는 성리학적 인식론의 시선을 의식한 결과이기도 했다.
건국신화는 국가권력의 신성함을 드러내는 서사형식이지만 드러내려는 신성을 구성하는 내용이나 방식은 역사적으로 상이하다. 이 상이함을 산출하는 이치와 산출된 상이함의 양상은 거듭된 연구에도 불구하고 아직 상당 부분 드러나지 않고 있다. 필자의 「고려세계」에 대한 관심은 그 드러나지 않은 부분을 드러내려는 하나의 시도였다. 조선의 건국신화인 『龍飛御天歌』는 「고려세계」에서 당천자로 표상된 신성성의 한 원천을 전면화하는 또 다른 방식을 고안하여 국가창업의 신성함을 구가하고 있는 것으로 보이는데 앞으로 『용비어천가』의 신화사적 의미가 더 규명된다면 고조선에서 조선으로 이어진, 누천년 동안 종을 보존하고 있는 건국신화의 역사와 이치가 어느 정도 골격을 드러내리라고 생각한다.
A meaning of the KORYOSEGYE in history

Although the birth myths of nations have narrative forms revealing the divinity of any state power, the contents and forms of them vary historically. The KORYOSEGYE(高麗世系), the birth myth of Koryo Dynasty, was formed in a different way from those of other ancient states. The birth myths of ancient states were discourses which made people confirm and accept the divinity of the founding of a country by repeated rituals. And they were made when the nations were being built. On the other hand, the KORYOSEGYE was made by individuals at particular times to overcome the crisis of the regal power having nothing to do with the date of the nation-building and rituals. In a sense, it was a discourse of consolation based on mysticism.
The KORYOSEGYE glolifies the legitimacy of the foundation of Koryo Dynasty with distinct principles and materials from those of other birth myths of nations because it has a different background and motive. Above all, Wang Kun(王建), the founder of Koryo Dynasty, does not have a divine appearance while his six-generation-direct ascendant has the very divine appearance. That is the so-called extension of the mediator's function, which is introduced to make up for the disappearance of the dispatcher. Therefore the KORYOSEGYE becomes a birth myth not by the dignity of a dispatcher(a divine god) or the uniqueness of a certain mediator but by the genealogical effect of the mediators.
The introduction of the theory of geomancy, prognosticate of dreams and physiognomy represents the unique style of the KORYOSEGYE in that they are new narrative-composing principles and world-interpreting methods. The characters in a narrative turn their eyes from the theory of Providence to the theory of Earth, which results in such hermeneutical thoughts, the penetration of the former into the latter. The narrative type such as the motif of dragon's son, is led to such a new narrative- composing form. And such hermeneutical thoughts are influenced by the confucianism suspecting mythological languages. As we know from the debate about the world-view surrounding the KORYOSEGYE.
