Abstract
Influence of Parents' Socio-Economic Background on Academic Achievement of Children
Kim, Myung-Chul
Academic achievement of children is said to be closely connected with a lot of variables such as individual quality, parents' socio-economic background, teacher, and school climate, etc.
The present study has focused on finding out how academic achievement of children is influenced by parents' socio-economic background like their academic career, occupation and economic status.
The conclusion and educational advice are as follows :
1. A coefficient of correlation between parents' academic career and academic achievement of children has proved to be high, so supplementary and special program should be provided for the benefit of children with low level of academic achievement.
2. A coefficient of correlation between parents' occupation and academic achievement of children has also proved to be high, so special field study and career guidance should be strengthened for the benefit of children with low level of academic achievement.
3. A coefficient of correlation between parents' economic status and academic achievement of children has also proved to be high, so effective way of learning in school should be given to children with low level of economic status.
