The Halloween was celebrated each October 31st from long ago. They came from the ancient Celtic festival. The Celtic people believed that on the night of October 31st, the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. They built huge bonfires and dressed in costumes to frighten the ghosts. The Celtics also offered the ghosts good things to eat.
The modern customs of Halloween are similar to the Celtic people. On this day, the poor would beg for food and would be given "Soul Cakes" to pray for the souls of the relatives of rich people .For kids, Halloween is a big entertainment because they wear scary masks and costumes to ask for some candies from each house in their neighborhood.
Japanese festivals are traditional festive occasions. There are also various local festivals that are mostly unknown outside a given prefecture. It is commonly said that you will always find a festival somewhere in Japan.
Specially, I will introduce Sapporo Snow Festival (Hokkaido)
Sapporo Yuki Matsuri, this is one of the largest festivals of the year for the city of Sapporo.
