음 학교장의 의사결정권의 공유와 학교운영위원의 참여의 수준을 양 축으로 하여 4개의 학교운영위원회의 유형을 제시하였다.
우리나라의 초·중등학교에 학교운영위원회의 도입은 초·중등학교의 경영체제에 획기적인 변화를 초래하는 것이기에 계속적인 연구가 뒤따라야겠다. 특히 이 연구에서 제시한 유형을 현장과 연관시켜 보는 것이 다음의 과제이다.

Study on the Typology of the School
Governing Body

Though local educational governance system has been operated since 1991, school management has not changed. Then, the school governing body was submitted as a part of a "May 31 Education Reform" for the autonomous management of primary and secondary education. It was more than two years since establishing the school governing body in the primary and secondary school after that. Thereupon, there are a lot of studying parts on the school governing body.
The purpose of this study is to present the typology of the school governing body.
The employed methods were analysis of reference books.
Results of this study are as follows :
In the school governing body, participation of the school governors and empowerment of the principal's decision-making are very important components. Separating the components of the school governing body makes it possible to explore combination of the two components. If each component is dichotomized, as shown in Figure, then four types of the school governing body such as Ideal Type(Ⅰ), Principal Leading Type(Ⅱ), School Governors Leading Type(Ⅲ), and Enervating Type(Ⅳ) are presented.
