Things to avoid in other countries
• This is not always easy to know without research
• Not always common sense
• Many times trying not to offend someone and having an open mind helps
• When in doubt, ask
• Some may be simply frowned upon, but some may be serious
• Where ever you are, try to avoid discussing politics and religion
• Example:
In Sudan, British teacher Gillian Gibbons faced 40 lashes for blasphemy in 2007. Her offense? Naming the classroom's teddy bear Mohammed

Europe
• Greece : Showing your palm to someone is offensive
• Belgium : Keeping hands in the pocket while talking to someone is rude
• England : Respect other people’s privacy. Don’t stare “V” sign with the palms facing in is very offensive
• Northern Europe : Avoid back-slapping
• France, Germany, Austria : Having your hands under the table is rude
India
• Head = soul. Never touch someone’s head, not even patting a child’s
• Never point feet at people. If your feet touch someone, apologize
• Use your right hand for giving things (try not to use both hands)
• Don’t show physical affection in public
